A very modern, often used term nowadays. Many people are looking for their dual soul, their soul mate. What exactly can or should we imagine by this? Well, I went on a search to find out for myself what is behind this term and how far it fits into my shamanic world view.
I was immediately surprised at how much information I could find about it on the World Wide Web. Apparently there are at least as many people who know as there are people who are looking. But that shouldn't really surprise me in this day and age. If I have understood correctly, dual souls are now widely understood to mean our separate opposite-sex aspect, our soul. Our mirror image, which shows us our issues in absolute intensity.
If we are lucky, we will meet our dual soul in one of our lives and then, through this unique opportunity to meet, we both have the chance to develop further, to transform our issues and then, out of the fullness, to finally (perhaps) reunite.
Then I switch off my computer, go into a trance and go on a journey. On a journey into a universal reality. Whether reality or not, it is my shamanic world as I experience it. And what do I discover: we are always both. Male and female. Even on the astral plane. Who or what is supposed to have split our soul into both aspects? There is no such thing in our universe. One of the two aspects comes to the fore, is temporarily dominant.
However, it does not fundamentally dissolve or split. It is always both. It is not possible to extract one aspect because it is the same. Just a different manifestation. When parts of the soul are lost, there are always all aspects of our being in the lost parts of the soul. And it is exactly the same when the soul is split. It is not like atoms that can be broken down into their constituent parts. Soul is a building block that only changes its appearance.
Of course, our world always appears to us the way we imagine it. If I dream the world into a deficiency, then it will be deficient. We live in soul associations. We have soul mates and soul families with whom we have very strong connections, including karmic entanglements. There are very deep experiences that we can have that can seem out of this world.
But what is a dual soul supposed to be? I have to disappoint you my friends. What I find in your descriptions is something else. Great longings for perfection, security, for the special, the unique. Ego-driven desires veiled in esoteric ideas. Almost everyone in the scene has already met their dual soul, even though, according to those in the know, it is very rare to meet in a lifetime.
We meet people in our lives who have such a strong effect on us that everything that has gone before can collapse. Yes, this has happened to me too. The world around us is always a mirror. Some people sometimes have a much stronger effect on us, they have the same issues and are perhaps very strongly entangled with us karmically. We are always looking for answers, we want to be able to explain everything, to be able to give everything in schemes. So we create concepts to feel safe. The universe is incomprehensible. The deeper I delve into the matter, the more I realize how inexplicable our creation is. Yes, it is possible to partially figure out how the universe works, but not why it works the way it does
